Garfield Park Library

The Garfield Park Library renovation brings new life to the historic Carnegie Branch Library. The design maintains the classic charm of the library, while putting fourth a contemporary take on the feel of the existing reading room. Through reworking the book stacks and opening up the plan to better engage the existing windows, the lighting in the library has been significantly improved. The existing fireplace was updated to create a focus for the central seating area, and comfortable banquette seating integrated at each window. Overall, the space uses a reserved material and color palette to create harmony between the past and present uses of the building.
